Object condition
Good vintage condition overall, retaining its original surface with handspun slubs, fuzzy fibres, uneven yarns, fold marks, soft edge wear and possible first-wash colour release.
Identification notes
The pattern is woven, not printed: dyed yarns create both the plaid and the textured surface.
The ripple-like structure is catalogued here as 清波纹 — Qingbo / clear-water ripple — a local weaving description associated with Chongming cloth.
Current folk interpretation links flowing ripple patterns with smooth-going days, continuity and steady fortune; this is recorded as interpretive context rather than maker documentation.
The cloth remains unwashed in order to preserve its original vintage texture.
